ICIA honors Tribal Nations, member enterprises, and industry allies advancing Indigenous sovereignty and innovation in the cannabis industry during Native American Heritage Month Washington DC, November 5, 2025 — This Native American Heritage Month, the Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association (ICIA) is welcoming its members, partners, and the Indigenous community to Washington, D.C., for its fourth annual National Indigenous Cannabis Policy Summit November 11-13. This year’s summit brings together key industry leaders, including a diverse and growing network of Tribal leaders, policymakers, businesses, healthcare professionals, veterans groups, and advocacy organizations, to explore the future of plant medicine in Indian Country. “We’re witnessing a movement toward collective action during a turbulent time in Washington,” said ICIA Founder Rob Pero (Bad River). “Our members represent a sovereign and united front of Tribes. Our Summit is becoming a meeting place for Indigenous leaders in the cannabis economy to build a strong, united foundation for long-term sustainable development.” This year’s theme, Breaking Down Barriers, Beyond Borders: Indigenous Rising in Plant Medicine, unites the diverse verticals of the cannabis ecosystem, including Tribal governments, Native entrepreneurs, health advocates, and industry innovators, to explore the intersections of sovereignty, sustainability, and accessibility of hemp and cannabis. “Our membership includes Tribal communities and representatives who are all-in on cannabis, many who are exploring the opportunities of inter-Tribal commerce, as well as non-Native industry experts,” said Pero. “This is a place for vetted industry partners to come together and learn from each other and develop lasting and impactful relationships.” The 2025 Indigenous Cannabis Industry and Policy Summit will feature educational panels and sessions on regulation, plant medicine, economic empowerment, climate smart cultivation, and more.
