Last night, awards season drew to a close as the Oscars settled any remaining queries we had about what this year’s best movies were. Naturally, Hollywood’s big night out was packed with blockbuster wrist checks and mega menswear. For every suited and booted horological flex at the ceremony, there was another equally major wrist check at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, the night’s most prestigious post-event shindig.
Core members of the tiny watch battalion were in town for a ceremonial outing, with guys like Drew Starkey flying the flag for Cartier. But not all of the night’s grails came with scaled-down sex appeal. Jon Hamm dropped a Vacheron Constantin sports watch grail, Patrick Schwarzenegger continued to put his watch nerd credentials on full blast, and Joseph Quinn rocked one of last year’s new IWC Portugiesers.
Drew Starkey’s Cartier Tank Solo
Drew Starkey is slowly but surely rising up the ranks of Hollywood watch guys. He’s flirted with Jacob & Co’s nod to classic watchmaking, the Palatial, and has made his crush on tiny Cartiers well known. But at last night’s afterparty, the Queer actor was back on the teeny tiny watch train, with a Cartier Tank Solo watch. Sure, it’s technically a women’s watch, but there’s no rules when it comes to this kind of grail. Extra points for the gold ring action going on, too.

As Don Draper, Jon Ham is a chain-smoking ad exec who knows exactly what people want. And on the red carpet of the Vanity Fair Oscars Party last night, he knew exactly what watch guys wanted, too. Wearing a gold Vacheron Constantin 222—the big, bold bad boy of high-end sports watches with fans including Brad Pitt—Hamm’s wrist was the stuff of Hollywood legend.
