Kevin Love is looking to join a team in a winning situation as he remains a free agent this offseason.
Kevin Love remains a key free agent available with over a month left before the new NBA season.
While there was interest in a return to the Utah Jazz, the former NBA star is reportedly seeking to join a contending team, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.
“I think there was some interest in him to go back there from the Jazz. But I think, as he truly holds on to the final couple stretches of his playing career, I think there’s some real desire from his side to get to a winning situation as well,” Fischer said in his latest Bleacher Report updates.
Kevin Love seeking another NBA play after brief Utah stint
Kevin Love spent the previous 2025-26 season with the Utah Jazz.
There were significant expectations that both Love and the Jazz would reach a buyout upon his arrival in a three-team trade last year’s offseason. In the end, the big man fully bought into Utah’s rebuild project and became a beloved veteran and locker-room figure across the organization.
Love averaged 6.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 37 games played as a Jazzman. Now at age 38, the five-time All-Star and 2016 NBA champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers is seeking to play in his 19th NBA season.
Kevin Love linked to Timberwolves, 76ers amid current free agency
Kevin Love has previously been linked to a potential reunion with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he spent the first six seasons of his NBA career. He was also rumored to potentially follow LeBron James to the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers were also pegged as a team to monitor who could reconnect with Love as their backup big.
Minnesota, Philadelphia, and Cleveland are all strongly positioned to compete for the NBA title, which logically fits Love’s reported desire for his next team.
“Still waiting on the Kevin Love resolution as well, but I do expect that he’s going to be prioritizing a winning dynamic,” Fischer concluded.
