The Knicks see Mitchell Robinson as a priority to retain this upcoming NBA free agency, while sharpshooting guard Landry Shamet is poised to earn a massive payday and generate tons of interest in the offseason.
In his latest Bleacher Report update, Jake Fischer highlighted the two significant free-agency situations the New York Knicks will have to deal with following their championship season.

According to Fischer, the Knicks mainly identify Mitchell Robinson as their priority to retain this offseason.
“We’ve been given an indication so far that Mitchell Robinson is the primary focus of New York’s front office, to retain their backup center of this year’s NBA champions,” Fischer said.
Holding an expiring $12.9 million contract, Robinson averaged 5.7 points in 72.3 percent shooting with 8.8 rebounds across 60 games this past regular season for the Knicks.
Despite nursing a surgically-repaired right hand, the veteran big man was tremendous in New York’s NBA Finals bout against the San Antonio Spurs, playing a huge role in defending French superstar Victor Wembanyama across five games.
The longest tenured Knick who has been in New York since 2018, Robinson was previously rumored to be targeted by the Sacramento Kings in free agency.
Landry Shamet set to draw major NBA free agency market interest
Beyond Mitchell Robinson, another Knicks player who will be on the market is Landry Shamet.
As noted by Fischer, the veteran guard is set to earn a massive payday this upcoming offseason out of his shooting displays and reliability for New York throughout the season, where he may earn contract offers of over $10 million annually.
After averaging 9.3 points this past regular season, Shamet maintained his massive production for the Knicks in the NBA Playoffs. Throughout 19 postseason games, he averaged 6.0 points while shooting a red-hot 47.5 percent of his 3-Point attempts.
From being signed to a non-guaranteed veteran minimum and becoming a late roster addition, Shamet managed to prove his worth and exceeded his $2.29 million value for New York in his second consecutive season for the franchise.
Shamet was also previously tagged a key free agent to monitor in this year’s offseason, where several teams are now monitoring his services.
“Landry Shamet is also a free agent and he is going to have a wide market, very much in the mid-level exception range where he showed improved defensive chops,” Fischer indicated. “Obviously the shooting piece, that’s always been a component of his game.
“I think Landry Shamet is probably gonna be one of the bigger winners of free agency, being that he entered the training camp with New York this year as the last player to make it to the Knicks roster. He’s now going to be looking at making north of $10 million in average annual value.”
