LAFC has acquired midfielder Sergio Vásquez from Ecuadorian Serie A side Orense SC on a permanent transfer through the 2029-2030 season with a club option through 2030-2031. Vásquez will occupy an international roster slot and will be added to the roster as a U22 Initiative player pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.

Vásquez, 22, joins LAFC after spending his entire professional career with Ecuadorian Serie A club Orense SC. Coming through the club’s youth system, the defensive midfielder made his first-team debut in 2023 and has since emerged as a regular contributor in Ecuador’s top division. During his time with Orense, he was a consistent presence in the club’s midfield, making 91 appearances (76 starts) across all competitions, tallying five goals and seven assists. In 2026, Vásquez cemented his status as a key figure, starting all 26 of his league appearances while recording four goals and three assists.
The addition of Vásquez continues a proud and productive history of Ecuadorian players donning the Black & Gold. Defender Diego Palacios and midfielder José Cifuentes played 204 combined MLS regular-season matches for LAFC and joined midfielder Jhegson Méndez on LAFC’s 2022 MLS Cup championship side as well as the Ecuador National Team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
