For Aaron Rodgers, Von Miller and everyone else, signing later in the process means the veterans are spared for those lengthy summer workouts.
Specifically for someone like Rodgers, he is essentially the only starting quarterback available on the open market. If one team suffers an unfortunate injury, suddenly he becomes more coveted.
There’s something freeing about having options and the ability to live life in the driver’s seat. For some of the NFL’s remaining free agents, don’t look at it as being the last pick, especially since they might surprise you as being the ultimate cherry on top.

Gabe Davis to visit Steelers
The Jaguars inked Davis to a three-year, $39 million deal last offseason and proceeded to cut him one year later. Designated as a post-June 1 cut, Davis is still out on the open market and looking for his next team. That opportunity might come in Pittsburgh when the receiver visits the Steelers on Thursday.
After trading George Pickens, the Steelers are on the hunt for some more pass-catchers. With the team unlikely to trade for Jonnu Smith, Davis becomes a real possibility on the open market. If that comes to fruition, it remains a mystery who will be throwing the ball to him in 2025.
Patriots don’t plan to release Stefon Diggs
Diggs has been no stranger to the news over the last week, but his off-the-field shenanigans aren’t expected to result in his return to free agency. Speculation has run rampant about Diggs and his future in New England after signing a three-year, $69 million deal this offseason, but cooler heads have seemingly prevailed. For now, it appears the 31-year-old will remain with the Patriots as he continues to recover from a torn ACL.
Jedrick Wills plans to sit out most, potentially all, of upcoming season
The 26-year-old Wills has dealt with a pesky knee injury and is working to recover from it. As a result, he plans to sit out most, or potentially all, of the 2025 season. According to Schultz, Wills believes that is best for his long-term future despite having drawn interest from multiple teams this offseason.
Aaron Rodgers ‘has not affirmatively’ told the Steelers he’ll sign
Aaron Rodgers may eventually suit up for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He may not. The bottom line is that only Rodgers knows what will happen – and we can’t even be sure of that. It’s been an offseason full of mystery for the four-time league MVP, who has gone off the grid for the better part of the last five-plus months.
Pelissero noted on “The Rich Eisen Show” that the Steelers are operating under the assumption he’ll sign, but they haven’t been given any guarantees. With all their eggs in the Rodgers basket, Pittsburgh is taking a big gamble with their team for 2025.
Von Miller plans to play in 2025
In an interview with 9NEWS in Denver, Miller talked about his desire to move up the NFL’s all-time sack list as one of the reasons he wants to keep playing. Specifically, his desire to pass former teammate DeMarcus Ware is one of those on-field reasons.
Miller also wants to keep playing so his two sons, Valor, 4, and Victory, 2, can appreciate seeing their father play. The future Hall of Fame player is still on the open market, but fans should expect to see him suiting up for one of the league’s 32 teams in 2025.
Nick Chubb not expected to be back with Browns
Fowler said during an appearance on ESPN Cleveland radio that he doesn’t expect Chubb to return to the Browns. It shouldn’t come as a surprise given that Cleveland invested heavily at the position in the draft, where they selected Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson. That left Chubb as the odd man out in a crowded room, especially given his injury history. Fowler believes the Bears and Commanders could instead come calling for the veteran running back.
