This week brings us our monthly UFC pay-per-view, with Saturday’s UFC 316 going down in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. We get two title fights at the top of the card, plus the debut of a former Bellator champion. For my MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC 316, I’m counting on that former Bellator champion to be upset in his UFC debut. Let’s get it on, c’mon!

The last ever Bellator Bantamweight Champion, Patchy Mix, will be making his long-awaited UFC debut on Saturday after arranging to be released from his PFL contract (PFL bought Bellator). However, his debut is far from an ideal situation for him.
Mix is taking this fight on short notice, and fighters stepping in on short notice only win 36% of the time. Plus, Mix has been out of action for over a year, another negative factor for him. This is to say nothing of Mario Bautista’s strong all-around game and extensive UFC experience. I think all of this makes Bautista a worthy live dog.
