Vallarta Supermarkets, a California-based grocery store chain, opened its first Arizona location on Jan. 14, 2026. Take a look inside.

Vallarta Supermarkets is planning its second Arizona store, according to a liquor license application filed with the city of Phoenix.

The new location will be in south Phoenix at 26 E. Baseline Road, at the intersection of Baseline Road and Central Avenue. The company was remodeling the store and planned to open it in August 2026, according to city documents.

The Southern California-based Latin American grocery store opened its first location in Arizona in Glendale. Customers at the grand opening on Jan. 14 were excited by the variety of products, from produce to meats.

The grocery store offers a ceviche bar with eight types of ceviche and a cremeria with freshly cut fruit. The food court sells tacos, pupusas, breakfast burritos and more.
