Milwaukee (CBS 58) — Kids and their families celebrated “Three Kings Day” with Milwaukee police officers and the National Latino Law Enforcement Organization Saturday, Jan. 3.
Around 50 families in need were invited to the 10th annual Three Kings Day celebration at St. Augustine Prep Academy.
There was face painting, arts and crafts and free haircuts!
Three Kings Day is a holiday representing the day when Three Wise Men brought gifts to Jesus Christ.
It also marks a close to the holiday season.
Captain Erin Mejia says the celebration means a lot to officers.
“The kids are so excited to just come and spend some time with us in a positive way and that gives us a little re-energy, ” she said. “I think and helps to revitalize and remember why we do what we do.”
A trio of men dressed as the Three Kings was set to join the family later in the day to cap off the event.
