The Denver Broncos hit the practice field on Wednesday with three players sidelined.

Broncos inside linebacker Dre Greenlaw (quad), tight end Nate Adkins (ankle) and practice squad cornerback Reese Taylor (hamstring) worked on a side field during the portion of practice open to media members. Adkins is expected to miss the early portion of the season, but Greenlaw has been expected to be ready for Week 1.

Greenlaw and Adkins were listed as “did not participate” on the team’s first official injury report of the week. Denver pass rusher Nik Bonitto (foot), wide receiver Marvin Mims (thigh) and linebacker Alex Singleton (thumb) were full participants.

Denver coach Sean Payton said on Monday that the team will be “smart” with Greenlaw, but he had no interest in providing any injury updates after Wednesday’s practice.

“At this point forward — and I appreciate the question — at this point forward, I’m not going to talk one thing about player injuries,” Payton said when asked about Greenlaw. “We’ll report what we’re required to report, but you’ll never hear me talk about how I feel it’s going or any of that. Really, there’s no advantage for me to discuss it.”

Denver will practice again on Thursday and Friday ahead of Sunday’s showdown with the Tennessee Titans. The Broncos are considered eight-point home favorites, making them the NFL’s biggest favorite in Week 1.
