JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lehigh javelin throwers Harry Keen and Greg Stagliano concluded their respective seasons Wednesday at the NCAA East First Round at Hodges Stadium.
Keen posted a throw of 62.71m and Stagliano had a throw of 62.37m. They finished in 29th and 30th place, respectively. Action was halted due to weather Wednesday evening with three of four flights completed. With the final flight returning to action at 10 p.m. Wednesday night. The top 12 throwers advance to the NCAA Finals in Eugene, Ore.
The NCAA East First Round marks the end of a first-year campaign that saw Keen finish seventh in the Patriot League and post the third-best throw in program history at 66.05m at the Virginia Challenge in April.
Stagliano competed at the First Round meet for the second consecutive season and bettered last year’s championships effort by more than five meters. His mark of 63.28m set two weeks ago at the Princeton Elite Invitational ranks fifth in program history.
Both Keen and Stagliano had their best throws on their third and final attempts. Keen had the highest finish among the six Patriot League throwers in the 48-athlete field.
