On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 3-0 in their final spring training game.

They will now open up their 2026 regular season on Thursday when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks.

According to the MLB’s transaction page, the Dodgers have signed Jake Cousins to a contract.

Cousins last played in the MLB during the 2024 season when he went 2-1 with a 2.37 ERA in 37 games for the New York Yankees.

That said, he is currently recovering from injury.

Cousins wrote (via Instagram on June 19, 2025): “Thankful for a great TJ surgery yesterday with Dr. Meister and his team. On the way to recovery with the best at home care. Determined to come back better than ever!”

Cousins was picked in the 20th round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of Penn.

He spent his first three MLB seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers before one year in New York.

@ByBlakeWilliams of Dodger Blue wrote: “The #Dodgers signed Jake Cousins to an MLB contract. In addition, Bobby Miller was placed on the 60-day roster to make room on the 40-man roster. Cousins is currently injured, however.”

The 31-year-old has gone 5-2 with a 2.78 ERA in 88 career games.

If Cousins eventually returns to full health, he could be a major addition for Los Angeles.

Jon Becker added: “Per the MLB dot com transaction log, the Dodgers have signed Jake Cousins. Would assume a 1+1 or two-year deal since he’ll be out most/all of this year”

Dodgers Heading Into 2026

The Dodgers have won the World Series Championship in each of the previous two years.

They are looking to become the first team since the 1998-2000 Yankees to win three titles in a row.
