The Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute at Seton Hall University is proud to announce a new partnership with the Maestro
Cares Foundation that will provide four renewable scholarships valued at $8,000 each
to undergraduate students pursuing their educational dreams.
Open to students who maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and qualify through FAFSA, these scholarships
are designed to help talented students overcome financial barriers and focus on what
matters most; earning a degree, achieving their goals and building a brighter future.
Founded in 2012 by international music icon Marc Anthony and entrepreneur Henry Cárdenas,
the Maestro Cares Foundation was built on a simple yet powerful idea: every young
person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. What began as an effort
to provide safe homes and educational opportunities for disadvantaged children has
grown into an international movement that has impacted thousands of lives throughout
Latin America and the United States. Through investments in schools, community programs,
and scholarships, the Maestro Cares Foundation has helped create pathways to opportunity
for students who may otherwise have faced significant obstacles.
Now, through this collaboration with the Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute, that commitment
to opportunity and empowerment will directly support students pursuing higher education.
“This partnership represents much more than a scholarship,” said Simon Nascimento
of the Maestro Cares Foundation. “It represents an investment in human potential.
We know that when students are given access to education, they create opportunities
not only for themselves but for their families and communities. We are proud to partner
with the Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute to help remove financial barriers and empower
the next generation of leaders.”
For many students, the cost of higher education and everyday expenses can feel overwhelming.
A scholarship is more than financial support; it provides peace of mind, stability
and most importantly, the freedom to focus on learning, leadership, and personal growth.
The impact becomes even greater because these scholarships can be combined with existing
financial aid and scholarship awards.
“This is exactly the kind of partnership that changes lives,” said Lori Tarke, executive
director of the Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute. “When we invest in a student’s
education, we are investing in a family’s future. These scholarships are an instrument
of hope because they have the power to open doors, relieve burdens and create a ripple
effect that extends far beyond the classroom. What a wonderful moment for the Latino
Institute.”
Together, the Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute and the Maestro Cares Foundation,
are creating a new opportunity that builds upon the vision of their founders. By strengthening
students through education, they will go on to transform their communities and create
lasting change for generations to come.
