Police say at least eight shots were fired into the window. Officers arrested 32-year-old Samantha Anthony for the shooting.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio woman was arrested for allegedly shooting at least eight times into a downtown McDonald’s drive-thru window in December 2023.

San Antonio police officials say employees ran behind walls and others found cover behind equipment during the gunfire. No one was hit, but it left employees shaken.

“I heard the first shot, I kind of like had a late reaction,” one employee said. “Whenever the other shot started ringing out, that’s when all of us in the front started ducking and sliding.”

Video provided to KENS 5 by a former employee who was working at the restaurant during the shooting shows the aftermath as police investigate. The drive-thru window can be seen with what appears to be large bullet holes.

The shooting happened around 5 a.m. on Dec. 30 at the McDonalds at 1330 South Laredo Street. The woman working the drive-thru says a woman, now identified as 32-year-old Samantha Anthony, ordered food, picked it up and drove away.

Thirty minutes later, the employee says, Anthony drove back and started screaming at employees that she didn’t get her order.

“When I was talking to her, I noticed that she had the wrappers on her lap. I was just like, ‘Can I see the bag?’ Because I noticed the bag,” the employee said. “(She said), ‘You didn’t give me a bag either,’ even though I could see it on her lap.”

The employee says they tried to tell her they did give her the food. The manager checked the video and verified Anthony was handed a bag of food, but kept insisting she didn’t.

This went on for about another 30 minutes, according to the employee.

Employees then say Anthony’s boyfriend showed up and also confronted employees about ignoring his girlfriend.

“She was hopping from the first drive-thru window to the second window, banging, talking, yelling,” an employee said.

After more arguing and a challenge to come outside and fight, shots rang out.

“I was crying, I was scared, I was having a panic attack,” an employee said.

Police say Anthony drove away in a gold 2011 Cadillac SUV. With the help of video surveillance and photos, they were able to identify her.

Anthony was arrested and booked into the Bexar County jail. She is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
