The 2026 season will be longtime Marlins TV analyst Tommy Hutton’s final year in the broadcast booth, marking his 28th season in his role with the Marlins and the conclusion of a broadcasting career that spans more than 40 years. Hutton began his broadcasting career in 1982 with the Montreal Expos and later worked with the Yankees and Blue Jays, as well as ESPN, before joining the Marlins’ TV broadcast in 1997 (Marlins).

Hutton’s return to the Marlins in 2022 was “widely applauded by fans” after he was dropped in 2015 for “reasons that were never publicly explained either to him or to viewers.” Sources said that then-Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria was “bothered by a few things with Hutton.” Sources also cited Fox’s desire to “cut salary as a factor in 2015.” But Hutton said that he “hadn’t even spoken about money with Fox at the time.” The new Marlins ownership “got the message that fans missed him and encouraged Fox to rehire him for a studio role in 2018″ (MIAMI HERALD, 3/2).
