Former NAVY Seal Adam Schwarze has won his party’s endorsement for the U.S. Senate race.
DULUTH, Minn — Former NAVY Seal Adam Schwarze has won his party’s endorsement in the race for U.S. Senate, vying for a seat currently held by outgoing Democratic Senator Tina Smith.
In a press release Friday night, Minnesota GOP Chair Alex Pleschash called Schwarz exactly the kind of leader Minnesota needs in Washington.
“Over a 21-year career, Adam completed nine deployments, served around the world, and traveled to more than 70 countries in service to our nation. That is a record of courage, discipline, sacrifice, and leadership. And it stands in sharp contrast to both Angie Craig and Peggy Flanagan,” Plechash said in a press release.
Craig and Flanagan are the DFLers seeking to fill the Senate seat that will be open this year.
Schwarze won the GOP nomination against former broadcaster Michele Tafoya and the 2024 GOP Senate nominee, Royce White. The Minnesota GOP called for White to drop out of the race last month.
Schwarze joined KARE 11’s weekly political show “On the Record” two weeks ago. You can watch his full interview in the YouTube video below. In the interview, he talked about growing up in Minnesota, joining the military, and looking at this run as a continuation of service.
In a statement responding to the nomination, Minnesota DFL Party Chair Richard Carlbom called Schwarze an extremist.
“Today, Republicans endorsed their nominee for the U.S. Senate — but they’re in for a messy primary. ‘Sure, bring on the tariffs’ Schwarze and ‘take one less trip to Starbucks’ Tafoya are in a race to the bottom to prove their loyalty to Donald Trump and his costly policies. Adam Schwarze is an extremist candidate who once stated that women on birth control are “weaker.” The Republicans’ agenda will only raise costs and make life for working people worse, and Minnesotans will reject either of them in November.”
