This week brings us our monthly UFC pay-per-view, with Saturday’s UFC 316 going down in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. We get two title fights at the top of the card, plus the debut of a former Bellator champion. For my MMA Parlay of the Week: UFC 316, I’m parlaying my two favorite plays for the event. MMA Parlay of the Week: UFC 316
UFC 316: Dvalishvili vs O’Malley 2
Start Time: 6:00 PM EST – (ESPN+/ESPN/PPV)
We’ll start with the second fight of the night, a lightweight bout between MarQuel Mederos and the debuting Mark Choinski. This fight was just added last minute after Mederos’s fight last weekend fell apart, so that means Choinski will be making his UFC debut on very short notice.
Mederos hits way too hard for a grappler like Choinski to have much success against him. Mederos is the pick.
We’re pairing that play up with heavyweight Serghei Spivac to beat Waldo Cortes-Acosta. Cortes-Acosta, while quite successful in the UFC, has never fought anyone on the level of Spivac, and he’s a poor grappler, which is what Spivac excels at.
