Kevin Porter Jr. hopes to stay in the NBA amid interests in Europe, with Denver and Sacramento as potential destinations despite a potentially lengthy search for a new team.
Kevin Porter Jr. is still looking for a new home elsewhere following his sudden Milwaukee Bucks exit before the start of the 2026-27 season.
As Porter Jr. faces a possible struggle to find a new team amid ineligibility to sign a two-way deal, the Denver Nuggets and the Sacramento Kings are teams to monitor that could sign him, per NBA insider Marc Stein.
“Yet several teams, sources say, are still evaluating their respective backcourts and could emerge as potential Porter suitors depending on how things unfold. Two such teams, according to sources, are Denver and Sacramento,” the report indicated.
Kevin Porter Jr. enters free agency after Bucks waive
Kevin Porter Jr. was waived by the Milwaukee Bucks ahead of the new NBA season.
The Bucks made the decision to cut ties with him after two seasons due to a crowded guard rotation and the league’s 15-player roster requirement.
Interestingly, before releasing him, the Bucks reportedly turned down a trade offer for Porter Jr. from the Denver Nuggets.
Porter averaged 17.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game while shooting 46.5% from the field last season.
Kevin Porter Jr. determined to stay in the NBA amid Europe interest
According to Stein, Kevin Porter Jr. remains determined to stay in the NBA despite receiving playing offers in Europe.
Porter Jr. last played for PAOK in Greece back in 2023–24, averaging 22.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 2.8 steals in six games.
Our early read is that Porter, who is drawing immediate overseas interest after a previous stint with PAOK Thessaloniki in Greece, is determined to stay in the NBA and optimistic he’ll be afforded a chance to do so.
