Fresh details about the second phase of a redevelopment centered on the former Sears site at Town East Mall have come to light.

The additional redevelopment details come several months after Main Event received approval from the Mesquite City Council, allowing a 58,000-square-foot entertainment center to occupy two-thirds of the former vacant facility. 

Dallas-based Elm Creek Real Estate LLC, proposed dedicating the rest of the first floor to bringing more sit-down restaurants. The second floor of the vacant property will house the conference center and the possible hotel, with a multilevel parking garage slated to be constructed in another phase. The company also plans to develop several outparcels along the frontage to attract additional restaurants and retail users.

City staffers also assured commissioners that Main Event’s plans continue to move forward. The company is still working to complete construction drawings for the entertainment center, which will feature bowling alleys, a restaurant, escape rooms and arcade games.
