DENVER– No. 6/5 Denver scored early and never looked back en route to a 4-0 win over No. 19/19 Miami Friday night at Magness Arena. Quentin Miller stopped all 22 shots he faced for the Pioneers (10-5-1, 6-1-0 NCHC). Matteo Drobac made 38 saves in net for the RedHawks (10-5-0, 2-5-0 NCHC).

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • 3:56 1st (Denver 1-0) | The Pioneers got on the scoreboard first when Rieger Lorenz intercepted a pass in the RedHawks’ defensive zone and came up with an unassisted goal. This was only the fourth time all season (in 15 games) that Miami’s opponent scored the game-opening goal.
  • 3:49 2nd (Denver 2-0) | Denver made it 2-0 early in the second period after Eric Jamieson worked a pass to Jake Fisher and Fisher then set up Garrett Brown for a deep one-timer.
  • 15:29 2nd (Denver 3-0) | The hosts extended their advantage later in the middle stanza, as Kyle Chyzowski finished off a backdoor feed from Kristian Epperson to cap a quick-developing 3-on-2. Clarke Caswell earned the second assist.
  • 19:43 2nd (Denver 4-0) | Just before the second period expired, Denver converted on a power-play goal to make it 4-0. Eric Pohlkamp fired from long range off assists by Boston Buckberger and Sam Harris.

NOTES

  • David Deputy led the Red and White with four shots on goal.
  • Miami played its first game as a nationally-ranked team since Jan. 12, 2019.
  • The RedHawks were shut out for the first time in the last 25 games (dating back to Jan. 25, 2025).
  • Denver finished 1-for-5 on the power play, while Miami was 0-for-2.
  • Miami blocked 14 shots, led by Ryder Thompson’s game-high three blocks.

UP NEXT:

The RedHawks and Pioneers will face off again on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 9 p.m. ET in Denver (note updated start time).
