A nude woman who led a short pursuit and hours-long standoff in Westwood Tuesday morning is now in custody.
The woman was leaning out of the vehicle, a gray Ford Bronco, talking to officers with the Los Angeles Police Department.
SWAT officers in armored vehicles arrived later Tuesday morning and blocked the woman’s vehicle, later shattering the window of her car.
Officer approached her car wearing gas masks. The Los Angeles Fire Department also responded to the scene.
NewsChopper4 was over the scene where the standoff was affecting traffic on Sepulveda Boulevard and Montana Avenue. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
According to LAPD, the incident began as some kind of disturbance involving a nude woman armed with a hammer or a machete. The woman left in the SUV, leading to a brief chase.
Authorities said the woman attempted to ram a patrol car.
A dog was seen inside the SUV, but officers later found a second dog that had been inside the woman’s car.
The standoff ended at about 11:45 a.m. when the nude woman climbed out of the SUV and was taken into custody.
