The 2024 NHL Western Conference Final heads north of the border as the Edmonton Oilers host the Dallas Stars in Game 3 on Monday. The Oilers took the first game of the series in double-overtime as Connor MCDavid’s game-winning goal solidified a 3-2 victory. Dallas roared back in Game 2 to win 3-1 and even up the series 1-1.

Opening faceoff at Rogers Place is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. Edmonton is a -129 favorite (risk $129 to win $100) on the money line in the latest Oilers vs. Stars odds from SportsLine consensus while Dallas is a +109 underdog. The over/under for total goals scored is 5.5 and Edmonton is a -1.5 (+199) favorite on the puck line. Before making any Stars vs. Oilers picks, you need to check out the NHL predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

SportsLine’s model simulates every NHL game 10,000 times, taking into account factors like current form, individual matchups, injuries and short- and long-term trends when making NHL picks. It entered the 2024 NHL playoffs on a 7-4 run on top-rated puck-line picks.

Now, the model has set its sights on Oilers vs. Stars and just locked in its NHL picks and predictions. You can visit SportsLine now to see the picks. Here are the latest NHL odds and trends for Stars vs. Oilers:

  • Oilers vs. Stars money line: Edmonton -129, Dallas +109
  • Oilers vs. Stars over/under: 5.5 goals
  • Oilers vs. Stars puck line: Edmonton -1.5 (+199)
  • DAL: Have won five of six playoff road games
  • EDM: Have won three of their last four playoff home games
  • Stars vs. Oilers picks: See picks at SportsLine

Why you should back the Stars

While the Oilers have played in many high-scoring games this season, the goaltending in the current round is keeping the Over from hitting and that has a lot to do with Jake Oettinger. The Stars starting netminder has only surrendered one goal in four of his last six playoff starts, including Game 2 of this series when he held Edmonton to a solo goal on 29 shots. He has also won five of six road starts in these playoffs.

The Stars continue to get contributions from different parts of their lineup. Tyler Seguin moved from the third line to first-line center after finding the back of the net twice in Game 1 of this series. Meanwhile, captain Jamie Benn has scored in two of his last three games and defenseman Esa Lindell helped propel Dallas to victory in Game 2. See who to back at SportsLine.

Why you should back the Oilers

Simply put, the Oilers are a hard team to keep down in their home barn. They have won three of their last four home playoff games and have done so by finding the back of the net, with the Over hitting in four of their last six at Rogers Place. Leon Draisaitl (25), McDavid (23) and Evan Bouchard (21) lead all skaters in points in the playoffs.

It doesn’t hurt that Stuart Skinner has played very well since being benched for two games in the last round. He is 3-1 in his last four starts with a 1.62 goals-against average and .921 save percentage, which is a big reason the Under has hit in each of Edmonton’s last three games despite many of their playoff tilts being high-scoring. See who to back at SportsLine.

How to make Oilers vs. Stars picks

SportsLine’s model is leaning Over on the total, projecting 7.2 combined goals. It also says one side of the money line is the better value. You can only get the pick at SportsLine.

So who wins Stars vs. Oilers, and which side of the money line is the better value? Visit SportsLine now to see which side of the Stars vs. Oilers money line to jump on Monday, all from the advanced model that has simulated this matchup 10,000 times.
