LOGAN – There are only a few days left for the Cache Valley Media Group and their radio station Juan 97.3’s toy drive benefit for the children of the Latino community. They are calling the event Regalando Sonrisas (Spreading Smiles).

Carolina Calbimonte a media personality as well as marketing and sales representative, is spearheading the event with hopes that every child will have a gift to unwrap this Christmas.

This year’s Christmas happening was organized by Raquel Gonzales, Fara Avila and Carolina Calbimonte, as well as community leaders and event organizers of Conexion Latina.

“We want the community to be aware of our Latino Community Christmas Toy Drive and the ‘Regalando Sonrisas” Calbimonte said. “The Toy Drive will run through December 6th. Toys should be brought to Cache Valley Media Group headquarters located at 810 W 200 N, Logan.”

They will have youth ages 11–18 help wrap the gifts. She said it was incredibly meaningful to see their excitement and involvement last year.

Conexión Latina Cache Valley non-profit organization, that strengthens the Latino community through community gatherings and resources, will be helping again this year.

“Last year, 280 kids attended our event at Lion Heart Hall,” she said. “Our goal this year is to serve 300+ kids, which is why we secured the Cache County Event Center.”

The distribution event will take place on Sunday Dec. 7, at the Cache County Event Center located at 490 S. 500 W. It will  begin at 3 p.m. and Santa Claus is expected to be there.

Besides distributing toys, they will have:

• Music by Ever Ocampo from Mexico

• Free photos provided by Andean Visual

• JUAN 97.3 FM will be presenting with MC Carolina Calbimonte, along with many others, including Diana Manzo

• Organizations from Salt Lake, such as Señora Utah 2025, will also be there

• Tamales donated by Los Primos Restaurant

• Aguas frescas from the Patiño family and La Única

• Desserts from Puerto Rican families

• Calzones rotos donated by the Chilean family of María Toledo

• Milk provided by the Ávila family (Guatemala)

• Additional contributions from local businesses including Otto the Taper Drywall, Deo Marshall, Salala Painting, and many others who are donating toys and support.

The entire Latino community is coming together to make this event possible.

“Even during difficult times, the Latino community continues to show unity, hope, and generosity. Bringing smiles to our kids is what truly defines us,” Calbimonte said. “Sunday was chosen for the event because many parents in the community work on Saturdays, and we want every child to have the chance to attend.”

The Cache Valley Media Group, Juan 97.3, Conexión Latina and many local businesses are trying  to make this event a success and bring smiles to children this holiday season.
