Phillies To Play At ‘Field Of Dreams’ Site In Iowa In 2026: Report

DYERSVILLE, IA — The haunted cornfields of Iowa could be raining Schwarbombs next summer. If the Phillies resign him, of course.

The Phils will play one of the most unique games in their 142-year history next year when they travel to the Field of Dreams in Iowa for a special MLB event against the Minnesota Twins, The Athletic first reported Sunday.

It will mark the third game ever at the famed movie site after similar games were held in both 2021 and 2022.

The Phillies game will be held in a newly constructed stadium, after a temporary stadium built for those previous MLB contests was dismantled, the report states. The new stadium is smaller and is expected to seat “far fewer” than the 7,800 capacity of the old field, meaning the matchup in the haunted cornfields some four hours west of Chicago will be truly one of a kind.

The exact date of the game has not yet been announced, and it’s also not clear if the game, like Moonlight Graham’s major league appearance, will be a singular event.

The iconic filming location of the 1989 film has been open to the public for years, and guests can play on the same field, just feet from the same white house, where the infamous Chicago Black Sox played in the movie. But the establishment of a permanent, MLB-regulation stadium, with some number of seats, perhaps reflects the league is eyeing an annual game.

The Phillies have already partaken in two similar special midseason games at odd locations: last year they played MLB’s first ever games in London, and the year before they participated in the now annual Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The Phillies game will be a home game for the Twins, the report adds, as the Twins are among the MLB teams that draw a portion of their fanbase from the general region.

Details on tickets are also not yet clear. During the previous two events, tickets were sold in a series of lotteries first opened to Iowa residents, and then to season ticket holders for the teams involved.
