San Antonio Housing Trust joins Ready to Work to Bring Education and Job Placement Services to Affordable Housing Communities
SAN ANTONIO (August 9, 2023) — The City of San Antonio’s Ready to Work (RTW) program is joining forces with the San Antonio Housing Trust (SAHT) and their affiliated affordable housing communities to provide residents with on-site access to RTW, the City’s unprecedented education and job placement program.
Through a memorandum of understanding between RTW and SAHT, eligible residents of affiliated apartment communities will have on-site access to wraparound services including career coaching, benefits navigation, financial counseling, training course enrollment, emergency funding, interview preparation and job placement.
“We’ve made great strides in bringing forward more affordable housing projects to support our community. This collaboration further bolsters that work by providing families with even more stability through job training and education,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “By putting these Ready to Work services in the communities where participants live, we are ensuring success on their journeys to higher-paying jobs in high-demand fields.”
Under the agreement, SAHT’s partner communities will provide space for RTW partner agencies to provide intake, assessment, and support services in dedicated on-site resource centers. SAHT contractors involved with the construction and management of the affordable housing communities also will be encouraged to take the Ready to Work Employer Pledge and to make a good-faith effort to hire Ready to Work participants for open positions.
