Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) fell 1-0 to FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, on Saturday night after Osaze Urhoghide scored a first-half goal for the hosts and the Black & Gold had a second-half equalizer controversially ruled out.
A cagey, scoreless first half tilted toward Dallas when the hosts won a corner that Joaquín Valiente swung into the center of the LAFC box for Urhoghide to head home in the 34th minute.
Black & Gold goalkeeper Hugo Lloris continued his terrific form, making a handful of important saves and interventions as LAFC built into the game offensively.
LAFC forward Armindo Sieb looked to have scored the equalizer in the 73rd minute but had his goal called back after referee Sergii Boiko, relying on the advice of VAR Younes Marrakchi, adjudged Sieb to have interfered with Dallas goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois in the lead-up.
The Black & Gold nearly secured another equalizer in the waning moments of regulation when a Sergi Palencia bicycle kick was saved by Sirois, preserving the 1-0 win for Dallas.
LAFC has a bye week next weekend before returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 10, when the team hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps at BMO Stadium for Noche LÁFC, presented by Ford. Kickoff from the heart of Los Angeles is set for 7:30 p.m. PT, and the match will be broadcast on Apple TV, as well as Coupang Play and SPOTV for fans in Korea.
