Student Ashlynn Sokolowski’s Artwork To Be Featured in 2025 March and Celebrations
After receiving more than 40 submissions citywide, the City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture and the MLK Commission announced that 12-year-old Ashlynn Sokolowski, a Robert G. Cole Middle School student, is the winner of the Commission’s 10th annual MLK Student Art Contest. Ashlynn’s entry is the visual representation for the 38th Martin Luther King, Jr. March and Celebrations. The artwork was selected by a panel based on the 2025 theme: “We are the Dream…It Takes All of Us” and the artwork’s concept, artistic imagery, visual presentation, and originality.
“Being recognized as the winner of the City of San Antonio’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 10th Annual Student Art Contest is such an honor,” said contest winner Ashlynn Sokolowski. “I was inspired to create artwork that represents the diversity and equality of San Antonio. As a member of a military family, I see how people with many different backgrounds, beliefs and cultures all can come together to serve with one purpose. The city of San Antonio truly represents the community Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. hoped we could share one day. Together WE are more. Together WE are San Antonio.”
