HOUSTON — A local professional sports venue has added new accessibility technology.
Shell Energy Stadium in East Downtown is the first professional venue in North America to install the RightHear Accessibility system, Houston Dynamo FC announced June 24. The technology allows visually impaired and blind attendees to fully engage with and explore the venue on game days. The new system comes via a multiyear partnership with local nonprofit The Lighthouse of Houston.
The new technology adds to Shell Energy Stadium’s other accessibility efforts. The venue is the first soccer-specific stadium in the U.S. to have a sensory room. Shell Energy Stadium also has a mother’s room, along with accessible seating around the venue, audio listening devices, braille and closed captioning, among other efforts.
