Some good news finally for the Miami Marlins rotation

Starting pitcher injuries have been an ongoing issue for the Miami Marlins. With bad news surrounding the farm system as well, it certainly looks s if things are taking the turn for the worst, before the season even got underway. Luckily, some hope is on the horizon. Could Braxton Garrett be on the way back early?!

It all started when 2022 NL Cy Young award winner Sandy Alcantara went down with Tommy John Surgery. We then watched The Fish lose Braxton Garrett for some time with mysterious shoulder issues. Edward Cabrera has a shoulder impingement, though may likely be back early on in the season. Eury Perez has alarming shoulder issues of his own, that came on top of a broken fingernail. It certainly looks like Cabrera may be back early in the season. Sandy should be back by next season. Eury’s timeline is alarmingly unclear.

There are some positive news on Braxton Garrett finally. He had a live BP session recently and it went very well. He threw to batters basically. It sounds as if he’s actually healthy, but just needs more time to prepare for the season. Which might mean something along the lines of a mid-April return perhaps. Assuming that’s what happens, this is great news for the Fish.

This is what Braxton Garrett said himself:

“It’s good to get there, and it’s a lot of fun. It’s a lot more fun than throwing bullpens. It’s good to get in there with Jazz and Burger and get their feedback. … I should start moving into a five-day rotation here; so maybe a bullpen and then a two-up.”

It certainly is beginning to sound as if Braxton Garrett will be back pitching in the Miami Marlins rotation before the end of April. Fingers crossed on that, but it doesn’t seem as if he’s hurt anymore so let’s at least have some optimism for that. The Miami Marlins need him back as soon as possible to stabilize the rotation and save the season.
