A final dress rehearsal? The Texas Longhorns, who have yet to look anywhere close to a finished product, will host their final non-conference game on Saturday. Sam Houston State comes to Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.
UT quarterback Arch Manning and the Texas offense will be looking to have at least one productive game before the SEC conference schedule starts in two weeks at the Florida Gators in the Swamp. The quality of the opponent should give Manning and the offense to get going work the cobwebs out.
SHSU got some great news this week with the return of starting QB Hunter Watson. Watson has been cleared to in Austin after missing two weeks with an injury.

Texas vs. Sam Houston Prediction
Well, we’ve been waiting for Arch Manning and the Texas offense to have a good game and I believe they will put up the biggest numbers of the season against the Bearkats. Will the Longhorns offense be perfect? Dominant? Probably not, but SHSU is probably the worst defense Texas will face all year. If they can’t get it going here, then see you in 2026.
On defense, Sam Houston returns starting QB Hunter Watson from injury. But it won’t matter. The Texas defense might be one of the best in the nation.
Final Score: Texas 41, SHSU 3
