New York takes a 1-0 lead earlyWho’s playing in the first match of Season 2 of TGL?What are the rosters for TGL season 2?

Season 2 of TGL is here. Its inaugural campaign had all of its matches on in prime time but with the first battle of its second season, TGL teed it up this afternoon and made its network TV debut.

Will TGL build off the momentum of debut season? The first TGL campaign had drama, surprises and stars but is it here to stay or will the curiosity factor fade for fans?

Yes, there was a pair of NFL games on at the same time but you can get caught up on all the TGL golf action right here.

Billy Horschel made a huge eagle putt from 37-feet, 5-inches on the par-5 15th to give Atlanta the edge. Moments later, Xander Schauffele missed wide right with his putt and despite having a major roster shake-up hours before the season opener, the Atlanta Drive beat New York 5-4 to double down on its win over NYGC in last year’s SoFi Cup Finals. Horschel’s bomb is the second-longest putt in TGL history.

“About five feet out it looked pretty good,” Horschel said. “What a heck of start to Season 2 of TGL.”

Matt Fitzpatrick made a 21-foot, 8-inch putt on the 14th hole and when Corey Conners couldn’t make his putt from 14-feet, 7-inches, New York got another point to make it 4-4.

So they go to the par-5, 671-yard 15th hole all knotted up. This one is worth two points.

New York has made it a 4-3 match with two holes to go after Cameron Young drained a long putt.

After winning a point on No. 8 and two points on No. 9, Atlanta won a third straight point on No. 10. Then on the 11th, New York got back on the leaderboard to make it 4-2.

AFter being held scoreless through seven holes, the Drive closed the alternate shot, 9-hole session strong. Now it moves to singles which starts on No. 10.

The defending champs evened things up on the eighth hole after a conceded putt to Corey Conners. What set that up was fellow first-timer Chris Gotterup hitting a wedge to 10 inches.

The sixth hole on TGL is a new one in 2026. This 414-yard, par 4 is called Stinger and TGL recently posted a description of the hole named in honor of one of Tiger’s signature shots.

A natural rock formation extends from the left out in front of the tee box, encouraging players to hit a stinger no higher than 50 feet. Those brave and skillful enough to take it on successfully will be rewarded with a boost of extra roll beyond 260 yards into Position A on this double dogleg hole. There is an alternative option though, which is a short mid-to-high draw off the tee to skirt to the right of the rock formation

New York takes a 1-0 lead early

New York Golf Club won the fourth hole for the first point of the match.

Gotterup, a late add to the lineup in the wake of multiple Atlanta lineup issues, had a cracked driver, it was discovered just ahead of the start time. So, he borrowed one of Corey Conners’ drivers. Conners and Gotterup are part of a pool of players available to play on one-match contracts if a team is short-handed, as Atlanta is with Justin Thomas out after back surgery while Patrick Cantlay and Lucas Glover were also unavailable.

The TGL season opener for 2026 is a rematch of last year’s final between the Atlanta Drive and New York Golf Club. The match started at 3 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN+. The complete 2026 TGL schedule with TV and streaming information is also available. Live TGL scores can be found here.

How to watch TGL on ESPN+

Thomas, out for now from TGL action after back surgery, was interviewed by ESPN’s Marty Smith from what looked like a nice comfy chair next to Atlanta team owner Arther Blank, who has a free day since his NFL Falcons don’t play the Rams till Monday night.

“Just progressing along slowly but surely,” Thomas said of his recovery. “Hopefully I’ll start hitting some balls in the next month.”

Smith then ask Thomas about how much he is into TGL.

“We’re very, very competive to start, doesn’t matter what we’re doing, we’re all going to want to win and I think being the first winner, the inaugural winner, is a big deal,” Thomas said. “They can’t take that banner away from us.”

TGL stands for Tomorrow’s Golf League and it’s an indoor simulator league, backed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports. There are six teams in the league, each with four players and for each match three players on each team face off in a golf battle that’s part virtual and part real golf.

All TGL matches are played at SoFi Center, a 250,000-square-foot venue on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. There is a real grass teeing area, which players to hit into a large virtual screen. From there, putting and chipping take place on a large chipping and putting area.

Who’s playing in the first match of Season 2 of TGL?

The lid-lifter for the 2026 season is actually taking place in 2025, on Sunday, Dec. 28, to be more specific. It’s a rematch of the final from last year between the Atlanta Drive and the New York Golf Club. Ahead of the 2026 debut, Atlanta announced an update to its lineup:

For Conners, he’ll be the first Canadian to compete in the virtual league.

What are the rosters for TGL season 2?

There are six teams, each with four players and for each match, three of those players will be competing. As seen above with Atlanta’s roster for the season opener, there are likely to be changes throughout 2026 as player availability may change for a variery of factors.
