NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — On this edition of Tiempo, we discuss efforts to address the need for organ donations in the Latino community.
LiveOnNY is an organ procurement organization. They facilitate organ, eye and tissue donation in the greater New York area.
The organization says Latinos are among the groups most in need of organ transplants and are increasingly underrepresented among donors in our region.
The nonprofit has Spanish-language services and a multicultural engagement department to reach diverse communities. Part of their mission involves addressing misconceptions about organ donation.
Joining us to discuss is Leonard Achan from LiveOnNY and Carlos Riley, an organ recipient.
Also ahead, more on the nonprofit organization, Roads to Success.
The New York City nonprofit has year-round programs for kids. Its mission is to empower young people to take control of their future.
They help by providing access to education, career exploration and leadership opportunities.
