Tilray Medical recently announced the commercial launch of its first medical cannabis product in Panama.
The launch follows the successful shipment of Tilray Oral Solution CBD100 from Tilray Medical’s EU-GMP-certified production facilities in Portugal through its joint venture with the Solana Life Group.
The product is intended to be distributed through a network of pharmacies in Panama called Farmacias Arrocha, where patients can access Tilray Oral Solution CBD100 with a medical prescription.
“At Tilray Medical, we believe every patient deserves access to safe, consistent, pharmaceutical-grade medical cannabis products,” said Rajnish Ohri, President, International, Tilray Brands. “Our commercial launch in Panama reflects our broader vision to expand access to cannabinoid-based medicines through trusted healthcare systems around the world. As medical cannabis frameworks continue to advance, we are committed to working alongside healthcare providers, regulators, pharmacists, and patients to help shape the future of responsible access, advance medical education, and deliver high-quality treatment options that improve lives.”
The launch supports Panama’s emerging medical cannabis framework established in 2021. It follows regulatory advancements by the Ministry of Health, which created a pathway for patient registration and physician authorization of cannabis products for medical purposes.
Panama was the first Central American country to legalize the medical and therapeutic use of cannabis, followed by Costa Rica in 2022.
Tilray Medical’s cultivation and manufacturing facilities in Portugal serve as a strategic global export hub, supplying EU-GMP-certified medical cannabis products to regulated markets worldwide.
Tilray’s Portugal campus first received its initial licensing certification in 2019. In September 2019, Tilray completed its first export to Germany from its EU campus in Portugal, which was one of the largest inter-European bulk shipments of medical cannabis at the time.
In addition to exporting into the German market from Portugal, Tilray is one of three companies with a cultivation licence in Germany through its wholly owned subsidiary, Aphria RX. The company has also sold or been approved to sell cannabis into medical markets in Poland, the UK, Ireland, Italy, Australia, Luxembourg, and Portugal.
Tilray Brands Inc. reported net revenue of US$206.7 million for the three months ended February 28, 2026 (Q3 FY2026), gross profit of US$55 million and a net loss of US$25.2 million.
