BOSTON, Mass. — Top-seeded Boston University claimed the 2026 Patriot League Softball Championship with a 12-1 victory over No. 2 Colgate in the championship game. The Terriers become the second team in Patriot League history to four-peat (Lehigh, 1993-96).

The Terriers broke the game open with a six-run fifth inning, highlighted by a grand slam to center field from junior outfielder Kylie Doherty. Senior pitcher Kasey Ricard pitched 5.0 innings, striking out seven batters to help Boston University secure its fourth consecutive Patriot League title.

Ricard was named the 2026 Patriot League Softball Championship MVP after earning two wins in the circle during the tournament. She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Doherty, junior infielder Kyomi Apalit and junior outfielder Sophie Naviar.

Runner-up Colgate placed three student-athletes on the All-Tournament Team, including junior outfielder Nora Megenity, sophomore infielder Analisa Raffaelli and first-year pitcher Kelcie McGraw.

Army West Point seniors Ashton White and Breanna Izzo, along with Lafayette seniors Marisa Powell and Kylee Sweet, rounded out the 2026 Patriot League Softball All-Tournament Team.

Boston University earned the League’s automatic berth to the 2026 NCAA Softball Championship. The NCAA Softball Selection Show will air on Sunday, May 10, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
