The 2026 MLB Draft will be another busy one for Tennessee baseball.
At least three Tennessee players have been selected every year since 2018, and that seems assured to continue this year. Starting pitcher Tegan Kuhns is a projected first-round pick and infielder Henry Ford, catcher/outfielder Garrett Wright and reliever Bo Rhudy were also on MLB.com’s list of the top 250 prospects.
Potential top-20 selections Jared Grindlinger and Trevor Condon headline the Vols‘ highly touted recruiting class that featured 11 invitees to the draft combine. Those drafted out of high school with have to weigh the decision to go pro or play in college.
The 2026 MLB Draft will take place over two days on July 11-12. The first day will feature of rounds 1-4, beginning at 1 p.m. ET, with coverage of the first 10 picks will on NBC and Peacock and the remainder on MLB Network and MLB.com.
The second day, which consists of rounds 5-20, will begin at 11:30 a.m. with coverage on MLB.com.
Drafted players have until July 27 at 5 p.m. to sign contracts and draft-eligible players who are not selected can sign as free agents until the start of the fall semester.

Drafted: St. Louis Cardinals, Round 1 (No. 32 overall)
Slot value: $3,044,600
What to know: Kuhns was named to the All-SEC second team this season as a sophomore. He had a 3.56 ERA in 81 innings with 106 strikeouts and 16 walks, asserting himself as the Vols’ top professional prospect. His selection marked the fifth straight year a Tennessee player was drafted in the first round. Kuhns is also the fifth Tennessee pitcher drafted in the first round since 2020.

Drafted: Los Angeles Angels, Round 1 (No. 12 overall)
Slot value: $5,889,300
What to know: Grindlinger is the brother of current Tennessee player Trent Grindlinger and is a two-way prospect, but he was drafted as an outfielder. He was ranked by MLB Pipeline as the No. 16 prospect before the draft and by Perfect Game as the No. 5 high school recruit in the class of 2026, making him the highest-ranked member of Tennessee’s recruiting class. He committed to Tennessee on April 1.
Drafted: St. Louis Cardinals, Round 1 (No. 13 overall)
Slot value: $5,661,300
What to know: Condon, an outfielder from Woodstock, Georgia, was among the highest-ranked draft prospects in Tennessee’s 2026 recruiting class. MLB Pipeline had him at No. 13 overall entering the draft, which was fifth-highest among all high schoolers. He committed to Tennessee in September 2024.
Drafted: Atlanta Braves, Round 2 (No. 48 overall)
Slot value: $2,081,900
What to know: McCarthy, a right-handed pitcher, is the first high schooler from Vermont ever drafted in the top two rounds. When he committed to Tennessee on Nov. 1, he became the first commit of the Josh Elander era, picking the Vols after also visiting Arizona and Wake Forest. He was originally in the class of 2027 but reclassed in January, making him one of the youngest players in the 2026 class.
