The Atlanta Falcons have yet to announce uniform numbers for their 2026 free agency class, but quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s number was revealed on Friday. According to the NFL jersey numbers social media account, Tagovailoa will wear the No. 1 in Atlanta this season.

The former top-five pick has worn the same number since entering the league with the Miami Dolphins in 2020. After spending his first six seasons in Miami, Tagovailoa was released at the start of the new league year, which allowed the Falcons to sign him for the veteran minimum.

Atlanta had a need for a veteran quarterback after releasing Kirk Cousins, and Tagovailoa was an obvious choice. The former Alabama star has passed for 18,166 yards, 120 touchdowns and 59 interceptions over 78 career games (76 starts).

Former Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney previously wore the No. 1 over the last two seasons in Atlanta. Mooney was released by the team at the start of the offseason. He has since signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the New York Giants.

Tagovailoa is expected to compete with third-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr. for the starting job next season.
