Baisangur Susurkaev truly is following in the footsteps of his teammate Khamzat Chimaev.
Just last month, Susurkaev made headlines when, after winning a contract on Contender Series, “Hunter” made his UFC debut just four days later, stepping in against Eric Nolan at UFC 319. Susurkaev won the fight with a second-round submission, and drew immediate comparisons to his teammate Chimaev, who famously fought three times in his first two months in the UFC.
Well, it won’t be quite as fast, but Susurkaev is still making a quick return to the octagon as MMA Fighting confirmed with multiple sources that he faces Eric McConico at UFC 322 in November. The matchup was first reported by Real Kevin K.
Susurkaev is undefeated in his career and has spent time training both with Chimaev and with Kill Cliff FC. The 24-year-old is 10-0 with nine stoppage wins to his name, seven in the first round.
An MMA Lab product, McConico (10-3-1) joined the UFC in February, losing to Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC Seattle. He rebounded with a split decision win over Cody Brundage at UFC Vegas 109 last month.
UFC 322 takes place on Nov. 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York, and is headlined by a welterweight title fight between Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev. The co-main event is a women’s flyweight title fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Zhang Weili.
