Utah breweries brought home three gold medals and a bronze at the World Beer Cup awards this week in Las Vegas.
Why it matters: The World Beer Cup is one of the most prestigious beer competitions in the world.
Big wins: Salt Lake’s Templin Family Brewing won two golds: one for its Guava Coconut brew in the fruit-and-veggie “field beer” category, and one for its Squirrel!! ale in the juicy or hazy strong pale ale category.
- St. George’s Silver Reef Brewing Co. won gold for smoke beers with its Mas Fuego, and bronze for wood- and barrel-aged beer with its Smokin’ Barrel.
Flashback: TF’s Squirrel!! won gold last year, too.
By the numbers: The competition featured more than 10,000 beers submitted by 2,376 breweries from 51 countries.
