VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Thirteen young athletes, including ten from the High Desert and three from Temecula, have earned the prestigious honor of representing Team USA at the Youth MMA World Championships this July in Abu Dhabi.
The local competitors — Zoe (12), Samantha (14), Sophia (14), Jayden (14), Roman (15), Davin (16), Xerena (16), Lillian (16), Max (17), and Madelynn (17) — all train at Cobra Kai Martial Arts in Victorville. They will be joined by Eli (10), Gunner (15), and Jet (15) from Dan Henderson’s Gym in Temecula.
These young athletes are coached by Joe Stevenson, a former UFC fighter, and Luis Iniguez, a veteran striking coach known for his work in developing youth talent.
According to Cobra Kai, each teen has trained for 5 to 10 years, with five of them earning the title of two-time national champions. Three have previously competed on the world stage, including one who placed second in her division.

To help fund their journey, the team will host a car wash fundraiser on Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at THE GYM and DLC Auto Solutions, located in the Costco center in Victorville.
The team is actively seeking sponsors and donations to help cover travel, lodging, and competition expenses. “Businesses interested in sponsoring will receive proper documentation for tax deductions, along with recognition for supporting local youth athletes chasing their dreams,” organizers said.
Cobra Kai Martial Arts emphasized its broader mission, noting that the gym is “more than just a gym. It is a place where young athletes grow in confidence, discipline, and skill.”
Those wishing to support the team or learn more can contact Cobra Kai Martial Arts at (760) 245-1800.
