  • Vincent Martella has seen all of the viral TikTok Phineas and Ferb clips
  • When promoting the return of the popular animated television series, Martella shares its “hard not to notice” the clips when they go viral
  • Season 5 of Phineas and Ferb premieres on June 5 on Disney Channel, and will stream the next day on Disney+

Vincent Martella has seen all of the viral TikTok Phineas and Ferb clips.

When promoting the return of the popular animated television series Martella, 32, shares with PEOPLE that it’s “hard not to notice” the clips when they go viral.

“It’s very nice, but everyone always thinks that they’re going to be the first person to send me a Phineas and Ferb meme or a Phineas and Ferb TikTok where they’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, I bet you haven’t seen this.’ ” he says. “I was like, ‘I bet 30 other people just sent it to me.’ ”

“It’s awesome that this show that we all care so much about has meant enough to this fan base,” he continues.

Martella stars as the titular Phineas, alongside David Errigo Jr., Ashley Tisdale, Caroline Rhea, Dee Bradley Baker, Alyson Stoner and co-creators and exec producers Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh. Martella voices Phineas, and Errigo voices Ferb, two stepbrothers whose summertime adventures are the main focus of the series. Tisdale voices their sister Candace, Rhea voices their mom, Baker voices Perry the Platypus and Stoner voices Isabella. Povenmire and Marsh also voice  Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz and Major Francis Monogram, respectively.

Povenmire, who is active on TikTok, is the voice behind the show’s most viral meme.

“Probably the most famous meme of the show is ‘if I had a nickel for every time so-and-so happened, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s worth it if it happened twice,’ ” Martella recounts.

“That is such an often-used meme that one of my best friends, who I’ve known since I was 15 years old, said it to me once a year ago, and I was like, ‘Oh, because of Phineas and Ferb.’ He said, ‘What are you talking about?’ ” Martella continues. “I said, ‘That’s a Phineas and Ferb line.’ He said, ‘I thought that that was just an internet thing.’ I said, ‘It is an internet thing from the show that I’ve worked on for 20 years.’ ”

Disney greenlit 40 new episodes of the series — which will air on the Disney Channel and Disney+ in 2025 — back in 2023.

A five-time Emmy Award winner, the show “depicts two resourceful stepbrothers who conquer boredom and make every day of summer vacation count, often to the chagrin of their sister Candace,” the logline from Disney read. The series originally aired on the Disney Channel from 2008 to 2015 before returning as movies, with the latest installment debuting on Disney+ in 2020, titled Phineas and Ferb the Movies: Candace Against the Universe.

Season 5 of Phineas and Ferb premiered on June 5 on Disney Channel, and episodes are available to stream the next day on Disney+.
