GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Wayne Community College will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a community-wide event featuring cultural performances, educational displays, and local organization participation on Wednesday, October 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The free public event will take place in the Dr. G. Herman Porter Atrium inside the Wayne Learning Center, the college’s main building located at the entrance with the flag poles. The celebration aims to highlight Hispanic heritage, history, and cultural contributions to the community.

Local Hispanic-serving organizations, small businesses, cultural groups, and student organizations will participate by sharing information and resources with attendees through interactive tabling activities. The program will include spoken-word performances, art displays, and cultural demonstrations designed to educate and engage visitors.

At 12:15 p.m., organizers will host a group photo opportunity, encouraging attendees to wear culturally representative attire such as traditional clothing, quinceañera dresses, or soccer jerseys.

The event aligns with the national observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs annually from September 15 through October 15 in the United States.

Wayne Community College is committed to accessibility and encourages persons with disabilities to participate in all programs and activities. Those anticipating the need for accommodations or having questions about access may contact the Accessibility Counselor at 919-739-6729.
