“We have not had one request from the County Judge of Harris County,” he said. “So I guess all of her citizens are fine in the unincorporated Harris County – but if she did, we’re here to fulfill it.”

His comments come just a couple of days after Hidalgo seemed to praise Patrick, who has been serving as acting governor in Greg Abbott’s absence saying he “took the necessary steps to allow the Administration to authorize [federal] aid.”

Later that afternoon, President Joe Biden approved a request to declare a federal emergency disaster declaration for the state of Texas.

— President Biden (@POTUS) July 9, 2024

“We had a cordial call today that ended up with him granting my request for a major disaster declaration,” Patrick claimed. “But that’s not good enough for him.”

KPRC 2 has reached out to Hidalgo’s office for an updated comment but has not heard back as of this writing.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.
