The Lions will be resting all starters and two rookies in this game tonight. For the Chargers, QB Justin Herbert will sit out the entire game and the unproven Trey Lance will have extended run, starting the game as QB1 for LA. There will also be a local tie for Oregon State Beavers fans as undrafted QB DJ Uiagalelei will play most of the second half for the Bolts. The Lions will be breaking in two new coaches, including a new defensive coordinator and a new offensive coordinator in this NFL preseason opener. Detroit will also be looking at backups to starter Jared Goff as former Steelers QB Kyle Allen and Lions backup Hendon Hooker battle it out for the QB2 spot with each getting opportunities in this matchup tonight.
