Glassboro, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s swim team was topped by Rowan University 175-87 in their season-opener on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The quartet of Natalia Brunetti, Adriana Bertolotti, Samantha Gallo, and Delaney Klaus opened the meet by placing second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:53.45, finishing less than three-tenths behind Rowan.
In individual events, Dora Dvorkin led the distance group by placing second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:14.09, as in the 200 freestyle, Eszter Kiss earned second in 2:00.49). Brunetti was runner-up in the 100 backstroke (1:03.41), with Paige Bleckley sixth (1:05.67) and Sydney Lanager seventh (1:08.18). Bertolotti and Ashley Settle went three-four in the 100 breaststroke, touching in 1:12.19 and 1:14.38 respectively, while Allie Halverson was fifth in 1:20.11.
Hanna Matheson took second in the 200 butterfly in 2:15.55, followed by Gabby Tyer in fourth (2:24.50) and Anjali Gupta in sixth (2:43.38). Klaus picked up Stevens’ first individual win of the year with a 25.45 in the 50 freestyle, while Gallo placed fourth in 26.78 and Hailey Gillett finished seventh in 29.05. Kiss added another runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle (55.92), with Bleckley sixth (59.24) and Matheson seventh (1:00.27). Brunetti returned in the 200 backstroke for another runner-up swim (2:17.22) as Dvorkin again led the breaststroke group in the 200-yard distance, placing second (2:35.95), while Settle (2:41.49) and Bertolotti (2:41.93) finished fourth and fifth. Kiss recorded the top Stevens time in the 500 freestyle, finishing third in 5:33.92, before Klaus earned her second victory of the meet by winning the 100 butterfly in 1:01.34. She was followed by Gallo in second (1:02.30), and Abigail Rosingana sixth (1:07.55), as Matheson placed third in the 200 individual medley (2:21.25).
The Ducks closed the meet with a strong relay showing as Bertolotti, Brunetti, Gallo, and Klaus placed second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.73).

The Ducks host Kean University on October 24, with the action getting underway in the DeBaun Aquatic Center at 6 pm.
