Fiat Topolino: $13,995 Mini EV Launches In U.S. | Image by FIAT® Topolino/web
Fiat has introduced the 2026 Topolino, a two-seat all-electric micro vehicle, to the United States with a base MSRP of $13,995.
The name Topolino is Italian for “little mouse” — a fitting choice for this micro-EV. It’s a nostalgic nod to the original 1936 Fiat Topolino, one of Italy’s most beloved small cars.
The compact low-speed vehicle offers up to 46 miles of range and is designed for neighborhood, gated-community, and short-trip use. Stellantis, Fiat’s parent company, confirmed the launch on July 7, 2026. Orders are open with limited 2026 availability.
Vehicle Specifications and Features
The Topolino measures 99.6 inches long, 56.4 inches wide, and 61.2 inches high, with a curb weight of 1,073 pounds and a maximum combined weight rating of 1,570 pounds. It seats two occupants and uses a 5.4-kWh lithium-ion battery paired with an 8-horsepower electric motor.
Range and Performance: On a full charge, the vehicle provides up to 46 miles of range. Base top speed is 19 mph; with the optional Street Legal Conversion Kit (expected Fall 2026), it reaches up to 25 mph. Charging takes about four hours on a standard 120-volt outlet.
Drivetrain: It is an electric vehicle with no traditional transmission options described as automatic or manual.
Colors and Trims: Currently available only in Verde Vita Mint.
Two versions exist: the standard Topolino with asymmetrical doors and a panoramic glass sunroof, and the Topolino Dolce Vita with rope doors and a roll-up soft top.
Safety and Regulatory Details
The Topolino is classified as a low-speed vehicle (LSV) under federal standards. Safety features include LED headlamps and taillamps, turn signals, horn, seatbelts, windshield, side mirrors, parking brake, and (with the conversion kit) a rearview mirror, backup camera, and pedestrian alert system. It meets NHTSA requirements for LSVs, such as specific lighting, reflectors, and a VIN.
It is not intended for highways or roads with speed limits above 35 mph. Without the kit, it suits private and gated communities. The conversion kit enables use on most public roads posted at 35 mph or less.
This marks one of the first major entries of a European-style micro EV by a mainstream automaker into the U.S. consumer market for this size and price point, though other LSVs and golf cart-style vehicles exist.
Availability and Market Context
Availability is limited for 2026 models, with deliveries expected in late summer or fall. The Street Legal Conversion Kit is slated for Fall 2026.
Why Now? Micro and low-speed electric vehicles have been more common in Europe and Asia due to different regulatory environments and urban density. In the U.S., strict federal motor vehicle safety standards historically limited such small cars on public roads. LSV regulations (FMVSS 500) provide a pathway for vehicles with top speeds of 20-25 mph.
Other manufacturers active in the U.S. micro/LSV segment include Wink Motors, which offers street-legal microcars like the Mark3 meeting federal LSV rules.
The Topolino shares its platform with the Citroën Ami, popular in Europe as a quadricycle.
