Washington, D.C. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s tennis team returned to action Friday with a 7-0 sweep of Catholic University.
Stevens took a 1-0 lead after doubles, winning two of three flights. Kaylee Hobbick and Alix Dry earned a 6-1 win at No. 3, while Wei-Wei Lai and Lorena Piegas secured a 6-4 victory. Gigi Arenas and Stephanie Untermeyer were edged 6-4.
The Ducks carried that momentum into singles, winning all six flights without dropping a set. Arenas picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 4 position, followed by Lai with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the third flight. Julia Chiovitti made her spring debut with a 6-1, 7-5 triumph. Piegas added a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2, Hobbick earned a 7-5, 6-4 decision, and Dry capped the day with a 6-2, 7-6 victory at the top of the lineup.
Stevens will face Moravian University on Sunday, with first serve in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania scheduled for 12 p.m.
