Joint Law Enforcement Investigation Leads to Search Warrant Executions at Two Utica Businesses

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County District Attorney’s Office and Utica Police Department today executed search warrants at two Utica businesses as part of a joint investigation into suspected illegal activity.

The search warrants were executed at approximately 10:30 a.m. at Romano’s Convenience, 1321 Oneida Street, and UT-One Grocery and Deli, 627 Williams Street. The investigation also involved the New York State Office of Cannabis Management, New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, Oneida County Health Department, Utica Fire Department, Utica City Codes and National Grid.

At Romano’s Convenience, approximately 50 packages of suspected synthetic cannabis were seized by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators also seized a quantity of U.S. currency, untaxed cigarettes and suspected cannabis. The business was shut down and its power was turned off, and the business was sanctioned by the New York State Office of Cannabis Management.

At UT-One Grocery and Deli, investigators seized 589 flavored vapor products and 30 packages of kratom products. A quantity of U.S. currency, untaxed cigarettes and suspected cannabis were also seized. No synthetic cannabis was found at the location. The business was sanctioned by the New York State Office of Cannabis Management.

Criminal charges have not been filed at this time as the investigation continues. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County District Attorney’s Office and Utica Police Department were assisted by the New York State Office of Cannabis Management, New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, Oneida County Health Department, Utica Fire Department, Utica City Codes and National Grid.
