In a ceremony marked by recognition of the diversity and cultural strength of the Hispanic world, the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, presented the details of the 2025 edition of the Hispanidad Festival on Thursday, which will be held from October 3 to 12. During her speech, Ayuso highlighted the leading role played by the Cuban community in the United States and stated that “everyone needs to know Cuban Miami,” referring to the deep roots and cultural wealth of Cubans in that city.
The statement, which drew applause from attendees, reflects Ayuso’s intention to broaden the festival’s reach beyond traditional Spanish-speaking countries and include a focus on Hispanic exile and diaspora communities, especially in cities like Miami, where Cuban identity has become intertwined with local cultural life.
Gloria Estefan, Cuban-American icon and star figure
One of the most anticipated moments will be the free concert by Gloria Estefan, who will celebrate her 50th anniversary with a performance on October 5th in Plaza de Colón. The Cuban-American artist, winner of nine Grammy Awards and considered a global ambassador of Latin music, will also have the honor of delivering the festival’s opening speech on the 3rd, officially marking the start of the cultural celebration.
“It’s an honor to have Gloria Estefan, a woman who has brought the voice and rhythm of the Hispanic world to every corner of the planet,” Ayuso said. Estefan’s selection as the event’s central figure responds to Madrid’s desire to strengthen ties with the Hispanic community in the United States, especially the Cuban community, which Ayuso praised for its dynamism, creativity, and commitment to freedom.
A party for all accents
With more than 150 activities scheduled across 22 venues in Madrid, the Hispanidad 2025 festival will seek to establish itself as the largest cultural event in the Hispanic world. The program will include concerts, exhibitions, film, literature, food samples, dance, theater, and children’s activities, under the motto “All accents fit in Madrid,” which reinforces the event’s inclusive vision.
This year, Argentina will be the guest country, but the United States will also have a unique presence in the Grand Parade, which will tour the city center on October 5 and be broadcast on Univision. Ayuso also announced that the United States will be the official guest country for the 2026 edition, recognizing its growing role in global Hispanic culture.
Cuba will also be a protagonist
In addition to Gloria Estefan, the festival will feature performances by important Cuban artists such as Eliades Ochoa, a member of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club, and the historic Aragón Orchestra, a symbol of traditional Cuban music, which will perform in venues such as Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Puente del Rey, and Plaza de España. Their presence underscores the event’s commitment to promoting Cuba’s cultural heritage, both on and off the island.
The artistic program will be completed with figures from other countries such as Babasónicos (Argentina), Bomba Estéreo (Colombia), María José Llergo (Spain), Henry Méndez (Dominican Republic), as well as groups such as Mocedades and Los Panchos, who represent different aspects of Hispanic music.

The 2024 Hispanidad Festival surpassed 630.000 attendees, representing a 12% increase over the previous edition. The Community of Madrid expects record-breaking numbers in 2025, given the international lineup and the growing involvement of artists, countries, and media outlets.
In addition to its cultural dimension, the festival has a strong economic impact. According to the organizers’ data, the average visitor spends over €200, directly benefiting sectors such as hospitality, transportation, tourism, and local commerce.
