Bally’s Corp. “plans to break ground next year on a vibrant, mixed-use project that will surround” the Athletics’ Las Vegas ballpark “with hotel towers, a casino and retail, dining and entertainment options.” Bally’s said that the project, titled Bally’s Las Vegas, will be “built in phases and eventually feature 3,000 hotel rooms, a 2,500-seat, state-of-the-art theater and 500,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space.” The complex will be “built above street level” with a “9-acre plaza.” Bally’s “did not provide the projected cost.” The development will use “26 acres of the 35-acre former site of the Tropicana” and will also offer “a VIP experience that offers direct access” to the $2B, 33,000-fan-capacity A’s stadium. Casino space “will occupy 104,200 square feet of the development.” There will also be a “three-level, 216,000-square-foot theater” and an “eight-level parking garage” (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 9/28).

Next season, the A’s will wear a gold alternate jersey that features “SACRAMENTO” across the chest. The design pays tribute to the club’s interim home (Athletics).
