Boston is beginning to put security measures in place for the city’s First Night festivities on City Hall Plaza.High-security vehicle barriers are in place on the plaza, with Boston police, fire and EMS crews staffing up in preparation for hundreds of thousands of New Year’s Eve revelers.There will be performances, fireworks, a parade and ice sculptures. Police say they want people to speak up if they see anything out of the ordinary.“We’ll have a full complement of police officers working to make sure that all parts of the city are safe.
